monoprints

Monoprinting produces the fastest results of all the printing methods, and I like to work quickly. It also has a strong element of surprise to it. There is a lot of play and chance involved and playfulness is paramount in my work.

These monoprints are from a variety of projects I made between 2004 and 2008.

  • little little girl – this series of 29 monoprints relates to the memory of my childhood. I grew up experiencing the world as a scary and untrustworthy place. So, I was a very frightened little, little girl.
  • women's work – a series which comprises of well over 100 images which attempts to externalise the inner turmoil of unexpressed emotions of guilt, anger, feeling trapped, conflicting demands, and disempowerment which often accompany the roles of wife, mother, housekeeper and woman.
  • observing the shoppers – imagined lives of ladies who shop. Based on life drawings made in a shopping mall.
